Welcome to St Anthony of Padua!
New Bedford, MA
Hello and welcome to one of the most beautiful churches in Massachusetts and beyond!
It truly is one of the most beautiful parish churches that you will ever encounter and yet, one that most people still have not heard of or seen! As you view our photo gallery and view its magnificence, it still does not give you the overall beauty of this church. It is only when you come in and look up and around that you understand how the church was built on the tremendous faith of the people. It is faith that builds and without it we build nothing.
The website was designed not so much to see the church but to let you know what is going on in the Parish. The Parish has many different activities going on. The church is not made out of marble and wood but out of people, men and women of sacrifice and dedication.
We have only one Savior, Jesus Christ. He wants to give us His grace, mercy, and peace. “Peace I leave you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).
I might add in here, I became a priest after a trip to Medjugorje in 1990 where I received abundant graces through the intercession of Our Lady, Queen of Peace. I dedicate not only the website, the Parish, and my priesthood, but in fact my whole life and all that I do, to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God. Also, with the intercession of St. Anthony.
Thank you for taking the time to visit St. Anthony of Padua Parish. As you can see behind me, St. Anthony is holding Baby Jesus, but he really wants to hold each one of us in his heart!
“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
May God Bless you!
To Jesus through the Blessed Mother,
Fr. Edward A. Murphy, Pastor
