Baptism
Baptism at St. Anthony are celebrated on the following dates:
In English: Every third Saturday at 12noon.
En español: Cada cuarto sábado de mes a las 12 del mediodía.
Due to the celebration of other sacraments, private baptisms are not allowed.
How do I register my child for baptism?
First, call to the parish secretary (508) 993-1691 to arrange the date for the baptism. Second, you may have to come to the parish office to personally register the child for baptism with her/his original birth certificate. Names of parents and sponsors need to be spelled correctly.
Requirements for Baptism we follow the laws of the Catholic Church
There is to be only one male sponsor or one female sponsor or one of each. (Can. 873)
Have completed the sixteenth year of age (Can. 874, &2)
Be a Catholic who has been confirmed and has already received the most holy sacrament of the Eucharist and who leads a life of faith in keeping with the function to be taken on. (Can. 874, &3) This means that sponsor must be practicing Catholics who attend Mass on Sundays (or Saturday Vigil), Holy Days of Obligation, and regularly receive Holy Communion. Also, if they are married, they must be married in the Catholic Church. Those who are married outside the Church or who are living together with their partner may not be godparents
A baptized person who belongs to a non-Catholic ecclesial community is not to participate except together with a Catholic sponsor and then only as a witness of the baptism. (Can. 874, &5)
